I have unticked opaque and etc when trying with the polygon planes but unfortuantly still comes out with 'black blocks' where it should be transparent I've played around with the attritbutes of the polygon planes and the texture but yet still renders black where it should be transparent. I have tried using Polygon Planes and attaching 'Blinn' to them, using my PNG images as a texture, but the transparency of the PNG image just comes out in a 'black block'and its incredibly frustrating. I need to render with Arnold and I don't want to attach the image plane as a background with the rendable camera.

It seems strange as it's only with Arnold Maya Software and the other build in renders are fine, and I don't have the money to acquire a licence with Mental Ray. I've played around with the attributes of the image planes to see whether anything will work, but nothing, they still disappear in the render. However, everytime I try to render the scene with Arnold, the image planes disappear, not a single image plane is visible after Rendering (of course, I use Arnold Lighting). I am using image planes as 2D items within my scene (Crates, Jars, etc.) and I love the way it looks in the viewport. I hope I'm posting this in the right place I'm in need of help! This video walks through the major shader attributes and discusses the importance of specularity and how it affects the perception of shininess on a surface.īecome familiar with the processes and methods for mapping 2D textures to a 3D surface in Maya. Learn about the different types of basic shaders available for Maya, such as Anisotropic, Blinn, Phong, and Lambert. Discover how to create a box, sphere, torus, and cylinder, and how to adjust detail before and after creation. Learn about the various types of standard NURBS objects available within Maya. More smoothing adds detail and makes a model heavier and you'll learn how to manage the amount of detail in a model. This video examines the smooth command and other tools used in smoothing complex polygonal models. In this video, you'll see how to model without selecting the reference and how to accurately position the geometry in the model against the reference.
